Hmmm… So I have had many people ask me over the years this question: Why does God allow bad things to happen to good people ???
First, I will say God disciplines those He loves, just like a parent does to their children. Hebrews 12:6 2 Corinthians 12:9 And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for you: My strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly, therefore, will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
Today we will go deep into water some people don’t want to enter. Still, we need to answer this age-old, stern, serious question and concern on this question. We all ask this question at some point in our lives, and as Christian, it is one of the primary curve balls unbelievers throw.
Why Does God Allow Bad Things To Happen To Good People
It’s a simple but complicated answer with a lot of moving parts. Let’s start by saying God never wanted us to live in sin. The sin started in The Garden of Eden when Eve ate the apple from the Tree Of Knowledge of Good and Evil. So let’s start there from the very beginning of this problem. In Genesis 3:6, When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it. Make no mistake, this was rebellion pure and simple. satan tempted eve,” do you want to be like God.” The point of not eating from one tree was to submit to My authority. Man’s response was, no, I will not submit but rebel. Sidenote: Is there something God is telling you no and you are rebelling against? So at this point, sin entered the world, and generations have suffered the consequences. God permits free will and makes our own choices. You can follow through this story when you read the entire story and linage moving forward past this event all the way up to today’s society. Sin has crept in one step at a time and multiplied, putting us where we are today.
Let’s break this down- I was at my in-law’s home, and my mother-in-law told me it was only a white lie. Another time, she said it’s only a tiny lie, and another time she said, what’s the big deal? A sin like that is not going to hurt anyone. Stop being dramatic.
Well, God thought it was necessary, so crucial that He had made it a commandment, so I believe it is vital in Our Christian Walk. Jesus said, Let your yes be yes, and your no, no. In other words, half-truths and white lies are all sins. Degrading to you, to the one you are telling, and to the Truth He represents.
I will explain why a small lie today becomes a bigger lie moving forward. Luke 12:2 Nothing is covered up that will not be revealed or hidden that will not be known. Luke 8:17 For nothing is hidden that will not be made manifest, nor is anything secret that will not be known and come to light. Exodus 20:16 Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor.
Let us break down even further the meaning of this commandment “1. Speaking falsely in any matter, lying, equivocating, and any way devising and designing to deceive our neighbor. 2. Speaking unjustly against our neighbor, to the prejudice of his reputation.
Also, what you feel is a small innocent lie with no harm is just the opposite of that. It’s harmful to people around you and is contagious in society. For thousands of years, people keep thinking their small lies won’t affect themselves or anyone around them.
White lie, Small Lie, or what some say is only a lie. It won’t hurt anyone, only I know it’s a lie.
We’ll God knows all things. He is Omniscient. All-knowing power goes beyond what we can imagine as humans. God knows if someone loses a single hair and knows people’s thoughts before they speak them, And every word out of your mouth has consequences and actions. James 1:19 “You must understand this, my beloved: let everyone be quick to listen, slow to speak, slow to anger;” And verse 1:26, “If any think they are religious, and do not bridle their tongues but deceive their hearts, their religion is worthless.” If you and I launch verbal destruction, those words will have devastating consequences on others.
So, God told us about being a false witness and how it is morally wrong. It violates His standard, Truth. That’s why He wrote it. He knew what it would do in the future to anyone who lies. Anyone who lies and doesn’t feel the Holy Spirit convict them (make them think they did wrong and want to repent for their sinful actions) is a problem of its own. You need to READ my sermon titled IGNORE. Also, lies are contagious. You say one lie to cover another and another, and they spread like wildfire. They extended past our circles. They go into other people’s lives, families, and processes, which are destructive and against God’s law. James 3 further elaborates that the tongue no man tame. It is a deadly evil, full of poison. We have all felt the effects of lies and people venting, and we need to be careful that we do not propagate that sin.
Why does God allow bad things to happen to good people? God created a perfect, sinless world. God also grants us free will to choose to love and obey Him. The consequence of that choice is we are free to choose wrongly. The resulting sin is why bad things happen to “good” people. Another time we will delve into,’ there is not righteous, no not one.” Romans 3:10 For now, we can take comfort in God being the author of love. We loved Him because He first loved us. 1 John 4:19. Even though there is bad, sin, and selfishness in the world, God provided a solution by sending His Son with the assurance that His moral authority will make all things right, in this world or the next.
